Doctor Overview
Dr. Daniel L. Miller practices cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in Augusta, Georgia. He is the director of lung cancer screening at the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University. He is also the director of thoracic surgery and a professor of surgery at the Medical College of Georgia. In his roles, Dr. Miller treats patients with mesothelioma, lung cancer and other diseases.
Dr. Miller is a member of various thoracic surgery organizations, such as the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery Network and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is also the former president of the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association.
Outside these roles, Dr. Miller dedicates his time to research. His interests include pleural mesothelioma, chemotherapy and lung cancer screening programs.
Dr. Miller has published over 130 peer-reviewed medical articles in prominent journals, including The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and The Annals of Thoracic Surgery. He serves on the editorial board of the General Thoracic Surgery Education Project for the Thoracic Surgery Directors Association.
Over the past three decades, Dr. Miller has also held several professional and clinical positions. He has led thoracic surgery departments at prominent institutions, including the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Mayo Clinic, WellStar Health System, the University of Louisville and Emory University.
A key part of Dr. Miller’s work involves understanding and treating mesothelioma. His efforts aim to improve early cancer detection and treatment, which is crucial for improving patient outcomes.
