Dr. Jess D. Schwartz is a thoracic surgeon at the Northside Hospital in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Prior to this position, Dr. Schwartz practiced as a thoracic surgeon at the University of New Mexico Cancer Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He served as an assistant professor in thoracic surgery and he had clinical duties at the University of New Mexico Health Science Center and the University of New Mexico Cancer Research and Treatment Center. With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Schwartz is board-certified in surgery and thoracic surgery.
His clinical focus is general thoracic surgery with a specialty of thoracic oncology. He is particularly interested in mediastinal and chest wall tumors and chest wall reconstruction, lung cancer and esophageal cancer. Dr. Schwartz is trained in minimally invasive surgical procedures such as wedge resection and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) lobectomy. As a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Dr. Schwartz has presented his research to several professional organizations, including the ACS, the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the Society of University Surgeons (SUS).
