Dr. James M. Levett received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine before completing a fellowship in electrophysiology at Duke University Medical Center. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Lutheran General Hospital before taking his position at the Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa Department of Surgical Specialists. Dr. Levett is now retired.
Dr. Levett specialized in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. He received the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Distinguished Service Award in January 2019 in recognition of his contributions to the field of thoracic surgery in general and STS in particular. Before retiring, Dr. Levett authored or co-authored more than 100 medical articles, books and abstracts.
