Francis Perry Wilson, M.D.

Dr. Francis Perry Wilson is a physician with board certifications in nephrology and internal medicine. He serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine. He is also the Director of the Clinical and Translational Research Accelerator and Co-Director of the Human Genetics and Clinical Research Core.

Dr. Wilson attended medical school at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology.

Dr. Wilson uses his extensive education and medical experience to help patients directly and indirectly. He treats patients at Yale New Haven Hospital. He also conducts research to find ways of personalizing medical care for each patient. His work has focused on developing tools to help providers improve their methods and standards of care.

Dr. Wilson also spends a significant amount of time working to improve patient-doctor communication. He created the popular online course “Understanding Medical Research: Your Facebook Friend is Wrong” on Coursera. He has also written a book in service of the same goals: How Medicine Works and When It Doesn’t. Both his course and book aim to get patients and doctors on the same page to foster an understanding.
