Gary Cohn
Investigative JournalistGary Cohn is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and journalism professor. He is a contributor to Mesothelioma.com, where he has published pieces highlighting the injustices faced by asbestos victims.
In 1998, Gary and Will Englund won the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting for a series of articles published in the Baltimore Sun. Called The Shipbreakers, it focuses on the dangers of dismantling old warships. As part of the series, the co-authors discuss the exploitation of workers subject to asbestos exposure without proper training or safety equipment. The Shipbreakers also won several other awards and prizes. In 1996 and 2001, Gary was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.

In 2019, Gary helped lead Annenberg’s Beacon Project, an award-winning investigative reporting internship. The project is aimed at training young journalists looking to enter the field. Gary brings over three decades of experience to his educational and training work.
